Macklemore returned to the stage at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on October 22 to address U.S. immigration enforcement and reaffirm his support for Palestine. The performance served as a direct statement on his political stance, delivered in front of an audience in the Colorado venue.
During the 17-song concert, the rapper spoke to the crowd about his opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. These remarks arrived weeks after a major change to his touring schedule. He had been removed from Ed Sheeran’s U.S. Loop Tour, a decision that followed a September 4 performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey where he expressed solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The September removal from the Ed Sheeran tour was attributed to venue objections. Messina Touring Group, the promoter for that tour, stated that several venues objected to Macklemore remaining on the lineup. The promoter explained that these objections created concerns about potential concert cancellations, leading to the decision to drop him from the itinerary.
Despite the controversy surrounding the Ed Sheeran tour, Macklemore has continued to speak publicly about Palestinian rights. He announced a separate Free Palestine Tour, which includes concerts scheduled in Dublin, Paris, and London in late October. Proceeds from those specific performances will go to organizations providing humanitarian assistance and other services to Palestinians.
The Red Rocks appearance marks another public declaration of the rapper’s longstanding political positions. The show occurred at a time when he is actively promoting his own tour dates while dealing with the fallout from his recent removal from a major pop tour. The event confirmed his willingness to continue addressing these issues live on stage.
